Freestyle infused pellets & kief liquids also: Mega Motueka, Super Sauvin, Kohia Nelson, Maui Nelson

NZ-hop pellets infused with Phantasm or fruit purée; kief liquids combining hop and fruit terpenes.

Manufacturer
Freestyle Hops (New Zealand)

What it is, in plain English

Freestyle Hops is a small NZ producer that makes some of the most experimental hop products on the market. Their Mega Motueka and Super Sauvin pellets are infused with Phantasm thiol precursor — meaning a single pellet addition delivers both the hop AND the thiol amplification. Kohia Nelson pellets are infused with passionfruit; Maui Nelson with pineapple. Their kief liquids combine NZ hop kief with fruit terpene blends. The products represent an early experiment in hybrid 'hop + something' formats. Working Title (Australia) used Freestyle Maui Nelson kief in their four-part Fracture beer series with notable results.

The technical version

NZ hop pellets manufactured with co-pelleted ingredients — Phantasm powder, freeze-dried fruit purée, or fruit terpene blends. The kief liquid format combines pure NZ lupulin powder with fruit-derived terpenes in a water-dispersible carrier.

How brewers use it

Pellet products are dosed similarly to standard pellets — whirlpool or dry-hop. The infusion is part of the pellet, so brewers don't need to source Phantasm separately. Kief liquids dose similarly to other liquid products — small additions cold-side. Yakima Chief released YCH 303 in 2023 doing similar Cryo + Phantasm blends; Clayton Hops launched 'Thiol Theory' infused pellets in late 2023.

Who uses it

NZ-hop-focused breweries, small experimental producers, and brewers who want to single-source thiol-enhanced hops without managing two ingredient inventories.

Tradeoffs
Supply is constrained even more than regular NZ hops — these are small-batch products. Once you commit to an infused pellet, you can't separate the hop from the infusion. Most breweries prefer to keep Phantasm and hop additions separate for dosing flexibility.
