Lupomax
Haas's competitor to Cryo Hops, also a concentrated lupulin pellet.
What it is, in plain English
Lupomax is John I. Haas's answer to Yakima Chief's Cryo Hops — a concentrated lupulin pellet that delivers more aroma per pound and reduces beer loss. It uses a comparable cryogenic separation principle. Available in a different mix of varieties than Cryo Hops, including Citra, Mosaic, El Dorado, Centennial, Idaho Gem, and Strata.
The technical version
Concentrated pellet form produced by separating lupulin from the bract under controlled cold conditions. Roughly 2x the resin and oil concentration of standard T90 pellets.
How brewers use it
Dosing is similar to Cryo Hops — roughly half by weight relative to T90. Best used in whirlpool and dry-hop. Lupomax has a slightly different oil profile per variety than the equivalent Cryo product because of small differences in the separation process.
Who uses it
Breweries with John I. Haas contracts, particularly those wanting access to Strata in concentrated form (Strata is a Haas-distributed variety from Indie Hops in Oregon).
