Craft beer in Madrid

The scene

Madrid trails Barcelona as Spain's craft beer capital but the gap is closing fast. Oso Brew Co (in suburban Alcobendas, with La Osita as their central bar) has become a national name. The Taproom Madrid chain (multiple locations: Chamberí, Centro near Isabel II, Tetuán) is the most visible — paired with Tierra Burrito locations, allowing food + beer at each. La Osita in Cava Baja is the cozy night-out craft beer pick. Madrid's bottle shop scene is exceptional — Mas Que Cervezas, Hidden Beers.

Small character-filled neighborhood beer bar. NEIPA praised, smashed burger excellent. Eclectic decor. Where Madrid locals go for unpretentious craft. Better than the chain options for atmosphere.

Getting around & local context

Metro covers everything. Most craft places open mid-afternoon and run until late (Madrid eats and drinks LATE — bars are full until 2-3am). Spanish craft is reasonably priced (€4-7 per pour). The Taproom Madrid locations pair with Tierra Burrito for food at each. Tipping isn't expected — round up.
