The scene
Toronto's craft scene matured rapidly through the 2010s after Ontario's restrictive alcohol laws loosened. Major players include Steam Whistle (downtown, the highest-profile brewery), Collective Arts (originally Hamilton, now with Toronto presence), Bandit, Old Flame, Lost Craft. The Distillery District concentrates several taprooms in a small walkable area — Old Flame at Tank House Lane, Lost Craft at Canary District nearby. West-end neighborhoods (Junction, Roncesvalles, Trinity Bellwoods) host most of the indie breweries. The LCBO retail monopoly is a constraint but doesn't prevent on-premise variety.
