Craft beer in Seoul

The scene
Korea liberalized its brewing laws in 2014, and Seoul's craft beer scene exploded shortly after. The early scene clustered in Itaewon (international/expat-heavy), and that's still the densest tap-bar neighborhood. Seongsu (the "Brooklyn of Seoul") has become the brewpub destination — Seoul Brewery Seongsu in particular. Mapo, Mapo, and Hapjeong host smaller breweries. Korean craft leans heavily on hop-forward IPAs but also produces excellent local-twist beers using Korean ingredients (rice, makgeolli-style sours, doenjang).

Getting around & local context
Subway lines 2, 4, 6 cover the craft neighborhoods. Most spots open mid-afternoon. Beer pricing reasonable (₩8000-12000 per pour, ~$6-9 USD). Itaewon area has the densest expat-friendly craft scene. Smaller spots like Brewery304 and the Itaewon bottle-shop-bars often have English speakers. Saturday-night Itaewon gets crowded — start early.
